Som tioåring blev Kathy Gong den yngsta nationella mästaren i schack i Kina någonsin. Som tolvåring knep hon titeln igen och hon spelar fortfarande schack med intensitet och passion.
Idag är hon en av Kinas mest kända, unga entreprenörer och driver bolaget WafaGames, där hon även är medgrundare. WafaGames använder teknik i framkant för att utveckla spel som vänder upp och ned på både spelstrategi och upplevelse.
Listan med utmärkelser och uppdrag är lång, men genomgående är viljan att arbeta för entreprenörskap och innovation, särskilt med fokus på studenter och unga.
På Webbdagarna Stockholm 19 – 20 mars kommer Kathy Gong att visa hur teknik i framkant, som exempelvis AI, är nyckeln till att skapa engagerande innehåll. Som marknadsförare vet vi att “content is king”, men det kan vara mycket mer än så, menar Kathy Gong.

As a serial entrepreneur, Kathy co-founded WafaGames in 2017 with her 2 co-founders Radwan Kasmiya (Chief Producer) and Joe Wu Mingzhou (CTO). WafaGames is a game company that creates only the craziest gaming experiences made happen by cutting-edge technology and innovative gameplays and strategies. Acknowledged by MIT Technology Review for its technological advancement on game Artificial Intelligence and real-time strategy algorithms, Kathy was featured as one of the global 35 Innovators under 35 in 2017.
Prior to co-founding WafaGames, Kathy founded ai.Law, a legal robotic start-up that reduces the barriers and costs of engaging legal services and makes law affordable. Since its inception, ai.Law served 3 million users, and 67% of them are women, which led to an acquisition in March 2017.
Kathy was the youngest national chess champion at the age of 10 in 1996 and again at 12 in 1998. She is one of the youngest chess masters in China.
In 2018, Kathy was final-listed by Space for Humanity as 1 of 3 human ambassadors globally to launch to the Space scheduled in 2020.
Kathy is Member of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Council (CPPCC); Member of the Foundation Board of Global Shapers Community World Economic Forum (2013-2016); Co-chair of APEC Women Leadership Forum (2013-2014); and, Image Ambassador of Chengdu’s Young Entrepreneurs, the city where she was born.
In 2013 and 2016, she was awarded as one of the Top Ten Young Entrepreneurs of China by China Federation of industry and Commerce.
In 2012, Kathy founded an independent non-for-profit organization, World’s Young Voices to sponsor young grassroot students who are academically and socially outstanding to globalize the young minds in advancing innovation, social entrepreneurship, and raising the voices of China’s young generation.
Kathy actively advocates on the importance of failures in entrepreneurship. She still passionately and intensely plays Chess on chess.com with Chess masters around the world.
